Sunny and Warmer This Afternoon. Rain Later This Week.

THIS MORNING: Temperatures well below freezing, with dense fog across parts of the area. This fog may lead to some icy spots on bridges and elevated surfaces. Use caution on the roadways this morning. The fog should be dispersed by around 9 am, and temperatures will climb above freezing by then.

TODAY: Lots of sunshine and a bit warmer than yesterday. Highs in the low 50s. Northwest winds in the morning around 5 mph will become southwesterly in the afternoon and evening. Mostly clear overnight, with lows in the upper 20s.

WEDNESDAY: A bit warmer still, with highs in the mid 50s under partly cloudy skies. Southwest winds around 5-10 mph. Clouds increase in the evening and overnight hours. Lows in the 40s.

THU/FRI: Widespread showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms Thursday and Friday as a low pressure system pushes across southern Mississippi. Our area should stay north of the warm sector, meaning there would be no severe weather threat here, but there will be the possibility for some strong storms across southern Mississippi. High temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s Thrusday, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 50s Thrusday night. A bit cooler Friday with highs in the 50s, with overnight lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.

SAT/SUN/MON: The weekend and start of next week will be fairly mild. A few lingering showers possible Saturday, then drier weather returns Sunday and Monday. Highs in the mid to upper 50s, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 30s.
