Grant Library Opening

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library at Mississippi State University officially opens tomorrow, November 30.

Located on the 4th floor of Mitchell Memorial Library, the $10 million addition contains a state-of-the-art museum chronicling Grant’s life and his significance in American history.

The library also features the “Frank and Virginia Williams Collection” of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia.

Visitors will find plenty of information on the Civil War and two presidents who shaped the course of American history.

“They’re gonna see a variety of artifacts from both Grant’s life and Lincoln’s life. They’re gonna be presented with interactive videos. We’ve developed these to really help tell stories and show some of the background related to both of these individuals. And they’re also gonna find some statues that we had commissioned for this particular project,” says Associate Dean of MSU Libraries, Stephen Cunetto.

The grand opening celebration for the Grant Presidential Library is tomorrow at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public.
