A Few More Hot Days Before Cooler Air Returns

SUMMARY: More record highs are possible Thursday even with a weak cold front moving through. A few stray showers/storms are possible but we don’t expect much moisture. A second cold front moves through Monday and it is poised to bring much cooler temperatures and a better opportunity for rain.

BURN BANS: All counties in Mississippi are now under a burn ban until further notice. Even if you are not under a ban in Mississippi or Alabama it’s best to refrain from burning due to the extremely dry conditions region wide.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear and quiet. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

THURSDAY: We’re still looking at highs in the mid 90s. A cold front will push through during the day and it may spark a few showers/storms. The chance of rain is still just about 10%.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear and quiet. Lows in the 60s.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies continue. It won’t be AS hot but we’re still looking at above average highs in the upper 80s to low/mid 90s. Overnight lows fall back into the 60s. There is a 30-40% chance of a few showers/storms on Sunday.

EARLY NEXT WEEK: A much stronger cold front is expected to pass through on Monday. We’re keeping a 60% chance of rain and storms in the forecast along with MUCH COOLER highs in the 70s. It really does look like this is our best rain chance since August. Lows in the low 50s are possible Monday night and Tuesday night. Expect lots of sun and more seasonable temperatures for October Tuesday and Wednesday.
