Hot & Muggy Memorial Day

HEAT SAFETY TIPS:  With the hottest weekend of the year and lots of outdoor events, here’s some tips to remember…
1) Check on elderly and those without access to air conditioning
2) Stay hydrated and drink lots of water
3) “Beat the heat, check the backseat” – leave no children and pets in a vehicle
4) Wear plenty of sunscreen and avoid sun exposure for too long

TONIGHT: Clear, calm, and quiet. Lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

MEMORIAL DAY: Temperatures again soar into the low to mid 90s with the heat index values approaching 100 in the afternoon sun.  Look for a mostly sunny sky, though a rogue isolated shower can’t be ruled out somewhere.  South winds will generally be under 10 mph at times during the day.

TUESDAY – WEDNESDAY:  Look for mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies each day. Daytime highs should be generally in the low to mid 90s with overnight lows around 70.  While a stray shower can never be ruled out in this kind of weather pattern we don’t expect any issues at this time.  Heat Index values will soar into the upper 90s.

THURSDAY – NEXT WEEKEND:  It looks like our weak front won’t make it here and provide us much in the way of relief like we’d hope for.  However, there will still be some scattered showers and storms on the table each day.  Think summertime when the heating of the day turns into some scattered downpours, but that’s about it.  Most will stay dry each day.  Highs are generally in the upper 80s and low 90s again.

FIRST WEEK OF JUNE: Extended outlooks continue to suggest above average temperatures through June 9th.  While a cooler day can’t be ruled out, we’re still thinking temperatures will remain in the upper 80s and 90s.  However, odds are increasing for “above average precipitation” which may suggest a better chance for pop-up showers and storms around our neck of the woods.  We’ll monitor.
