Light Wintry Mix Possible; Travel Impacts Minimal.

TODAY:  Scattered drizzle and light showers begin in the morning, potentially transitioning to freezing drizzle and light wintry mix in the mid morning and afternoon in areas along and northwest of a line from Iuka to Pontotoc to Carrollton . Wintry mix encompasses several different precipitation types, including a cold rain, drizzle, freezing drizzle, freezing rain, sleet, and snow. All told, with ground and pavement temps as warm as they are, any accumulations would be very isolated and only on elevated and well ventilated surfaces. Any travel issues this afternoon and overnight would most likely be confined to bridges and overpasses. Overnight, a few lingering areas of wintry mix could continue to fall. Temperatures drop into the low 30s, with most spots hovering near the freezing mark.

THURSDAY: An isolated lingering light wintry mix or flurry will be possible in the early morning along the US-72 corridor east of US-45, with the rest of the area dry all day. Clouds decrease through the day and high temperatures climb into the 40s. Overnight, temperatures drop below freezing area-wide, with lows in the 20s.

FRIDAY-TUESDAY: A warmer and drier pattern through the end of this week and start of next week. High temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s, with at least some sunshine each day. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.
