Nice into the Weekend, Tropical Troubles and Strong Storms by Next Week

Lots of sunshine today as Fall weather hangs on for a few days!  There will be rain and storms returning by next week.

TODAY: Look for lots of sunshine with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s by the afternoon.  Winds will be light from the north between 3-8 mph.

TONIGHT: Under a mostly clear sky, temperatures fall back into the 40s with light and variable winds.

FRIDAY: Highs make it back into the low 70s across the area.  We’ll see a partly cloudy sky into the afternoon.  Lows Friday Night fall into the upper 40s and low 50s.

THIS WEEKEND:  We’re thinking our tropical low in the Gulf of Mexico will stay to our south and our east into the weekend.   That means we’ll be on the drier side of the system. While a few isolated showers are possible, most spots will stay dry into the weekend.  Some breezes out of the north may pick up as the system approaches and turn out of the west, but we’ll not see major impacts.  As such, highs will be in the 70s with lows int the 50s and 60s with a partly cloudy sky.

MONDAY: A cold front approaches the region with some potential for strong storms in the area.  While we’re too far out for specifics, it would appear that damaging straight line winds would be the main threat, with heavy rainfall a secondary threat.  The storm prediction center has already placed our entire WCBI viewing area under a slight risk (level 2/5).  We’ll keep you updated as we move closer.

TUESDAY – WEDNESDAY: We’ll expect the front to clear out of our area by Tuesday, leaving us drier with a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky.  Temperatures also settle back into the upper 60s and low 70s with lows at night in the 40s and 50s.

TROPICS: A disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico has high odds of forming into a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours and into the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.  It’s right now anticipated to bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the coastal region through the mid-atlantic, but we anticipate no major impacts in the WCBI viewing area as of now.  We’ll keep you advised.
