A quiet Friday followed by stormy weather for the weekend

SUMMARY: We’ll have cloudy skies with a few sprinkles for our Friday as temperatures remain above average in the middle to upper 60s heading into the weekend. There remains the potential for some strong to possible isolated severe storms Saturday night into Sunday as a strong cold front will push through, if the atmosphere can become unstable enough. Something we’ll continue to keep you updated on. We can expect rainfall amounts to be anywhere form 1/2” to over 2” of rain this weekend.

FRIDAY: One more quiet day overall with our weather before it gets active for the weekend. Mostly cloudy skies with an isolated chance for a few light showers in the afternoon. Highs in the middle to upper 60s with a light SE wind.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows in the middle 50s.

SATURDAY: Scattered rain chances in the afternoon. Highs very mild in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. It will be a bit breezy with winds pick up out of the SE at 10-15 mph, gusts up to 20.

SATURDAY NIGHT-SUNDAY: Rain and thunderstorms are likely. Some stronger storms could develop if we can get enough instability, but it’s still uncertain. Something we’ll continue to watch. While overall the threat is low, we can’t rule out gusty winds and heavy rain. The tornado threat looks to be low as well. Total weekend rainfall amounts between 1/2” and 2.” In addition, we could get a narrow window of opportunity for some redevelopment heading into Sunday pending when the cold front pushes through. This could also pose a threat for a few stronger storms before by Sunday evening.

MONDAY-TUESDAY: As we wrap up 2019, cooler and drier weather returns behind our cold front along with the sunshine. Highs fall back near average into the lower to middle 50s. Overnight lows in the 30s.

NEW YEAR’S DAY-LATE NEXT WEEK: Clouds move back in once again to start off 2020 with scattered showers as another storm system moves in. This could be another heavy rain producer. High temperatures remain in the lower to middle 50s.
