TODAY: Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day.  Storms will approach us from the west through the morning hours.  Some elevated showers and storms are expected along and north of US 278 this morning.  These storms are not expected to be severe.

By the afternoon, a broken line of storms is anticipated to move from west to east.  It appears more and more likely that a few of these storms will be severe, with damaging winds, flash flooding and hail the main threats.  A few spin-up tornadoes would also be possible.

If a storm or two can become more isolated and become a supercell, the tornado threat will increase, including the chance for a strong tornado in our area.  Confidence is increasing on there being severe weather across North Mississippi and West Alabama, including the threat for isolated supercells.  The prime window of opportunity for this looks to be 2PM to 8PM, although thunderstorms may last through Midnight before clearing south of the area.

Temperatures during the day are expected to climb into the 70s with breezy south winds from 10-30 mph and a mostly cloudy sky.

SATURDAY NIGHT: The rain and storm threat will end from north to south as the cold front moves into central Mississippi and Alabama. Temperatures cool into the 50s in many spots by morning under a partly cloudy sky.

SUNDAY: Our area should have a drier, more stable day with better rain chances setting up across central and southern parts of the Twin States, especially south of US-82. Highs in the upper 60s to around 70 are still likely under variably cloudy skies. Cooler 40s return Sunday night.

MONDAY-TUESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy return along with a 20% chance of showers. Not everyone will get rain during this time. Highs look to be mainly in the 60s with overnight lows in the 40s to low 50s.

WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY: Another round or two of strong to severe storms is possible in addition to heavy rainfall. Warmer 70s should return out ahead of the system. We still have many days to watch it but it’ll be the next big thing after the weekend.
