A Few Storms Today, Some Strong Storms Tomorrow

SUNDAY: A batch of rain and storms will approach from the west Sunday Morning and push through our region during the day on Sunday.  Highs climb only in the mid 80s with a partly cloudy to mostly cloudy sky.  Most areas will see rain, with amounts generally around an inch.  Some areas will see heavier amounts where storms can form and pass through one after another.  A few storms may be strong to severe with frequent lightning, gusty winds and small hail possible.  The tornado threat remains low, but we’ll monitor for changes.  Lows Sunday Night dip only into the upper 60s and low 70s.

MONDAY: A few thunderstorms may redevelop in the area, but overall we think things stay isolated to scattered in nature.  Highs climb into the mid to upper 80s.  Look for a partly cloudy sky.

MIDDLE/LATE NEXT WEEK: We think we’ll dry back out, but some afternoon summer-time pop-up showers and storms can’t be ruled out.  Overall, we’ll be climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s, with some spots seeing heat index values into the middle to even upper 90s at times.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Overall, the big picture pattern suggests high confidence in above average temperatures (likely the upper 80s and low 90s), with good confidence of a drier air pattern.  While some pop-up storms can’t be ruled out, it doesn’t appear we’ll see any big-time systems swinging through and making things a washout.  We’ll monitor.
