Video: DHS Kicks Off Child Abuse Awareness Month

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and Columbus city leaders are doing their part to create awareness.

The Lowndes County Department of Human Services held a kick-off ceremony this morning.

Organizers spoke about the importance of recognizing child abuse and the different programs out there for victims.

Mayor Robert Smith also read the city’s proclamation.

Leaders at DHS have several programs scheduled throughout the month focusing on foster care, protection and prevention.
