Wet and Stormy Weather On The Way

TODAY: Sunny in the morning becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. Warm and breezy, with a high in the mid to upper 80s and a southeast wind around 5-15 mph with gusts around 25 mph. An isolated shower or storm will be possible in the afternoon. A better chance for a few showers and storms as we head into the evening. Some storms could be strong today, but generally storms will be weakening as they move east of I-55. Some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm could linger into the overnight. Lows in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY: Thunderstorms are in the forecast again for Thursday, and some storms could be strong to severe. A line of storms will move across the area that will be capable of producing damaging straight line winds and quarter size hail. An isolated tornado will be possible as well, but isn’t the primary threat this line of storms will pose. The timing for this line still is between the morning and the late afternoon hours. High temperatures will be in the low 80s Thursday, with lows in the upper 60s Thursday night.

FRI-SUN: Multiple waves of showers and storms are likely as weak upper level disturbances move across the area while a front stalls out at the surface. These waves of showers and storms will likely produce heavy rain that could cause some isolated flooding issues. We’ll keep an eye on the rivers and creeks through the weekend as well, but the primary threat for creek and river flooding will be to our west. High temps in the upper 70s Friday through Sunday, with lows in the 60s Friday and Saturday nights and 50s Sunday night.

MON/TUE: The stationary front is pushed east to kick off next week, giving us a reprieve from the rain on Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures in the upper 70s up to 80° with lows in the 50s.
