TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI)-The University of Alabama will continue its ban on firearms on campus despite new state policy on guns. The schools revised policy will generally continue to ban the possession, transportation and use of firearms and other dangerous weapons, with a few exceptions. The revised policy is in response to a new state law that sought to clarify where and how gun owners could carry and transport firearms. School officials say it continues to be a violation of the student code of conduct for students to have a gun or dangerous weapon on campus. The new policy will go into effect immediately.
