COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It was the workhorse bomber of World War II.
A restored Panchito B-25 bomber is one of many special parts of this weekend’s “Wings Over Columbus” air show.
WCBI Meteorologist Heather Sophia was part of a group that got a special flight in the plane, which is operated in conjunction with outreach efforts of the Disabled American Veterans Organization.
The group got to experience everything from the bomber bays, to the tail. And they even had a special escort from a P-51 Mustang fighter, the same planes that escorted the B-25 during World War II.
