Severe Weather Staying Away… For Now
Late November often yields a round or two of severe storms that produce tornadoes here in the Deep South. Climatology says this is the case.
If you recall, we had a major out break of severe weather and tornadoes on November 29th last year. This was the Tuesday right after Thanksgiving. A total of 6 tornadoes were confirmed in the aftermath of the rough weather that swept across the WCBI-TV coverage area. We were on the air from about 4:30 p.m. until 1:37 am during the duration of the event making sure all of you stayed safe and informed.
The quiet and tornado free weather pattern we’re locked into right now appears as though it will last through the end of the month and into the start of December. The only chance of any rain whatsoever during the next week or so appears to be Thursday, November 30th. Even that is a bit of a stretch. The Storm Prediction Center is not expecting any widespread severe weather for the next 7 days.
Since this is the Thanksgiving weekend lets all be thankful that Mother Nature is keeping the inclement weather away from our region. At some point the odds will go against us but right now we’re in a pretty good spot.
